I’m Liz. My husband Andy and I run Small Craft Kitchen from our home on the coast of Maine—sharing our baking and a glimpse of life here in vacationland.
I was born to bake. Growing up, my parents and their friends gathered every year for a holiday cookie bake-off. They've been doing it for nearly 60 years. At first I watched from the sidelines, then eventually joined in - rolling dough, decorating cookies and learning recipes that brought everyone together.
That love of baking stayed with me. And years later, I opened and ran a bakery with two friends in my small coastal town in Maine. Every morning we baked cinnamon rolls, breads, pastries, cakes and cookies for our community. While that chapter has closed, I've continued baking, and I wanted a way to keep sharing it - so I created Small Craft Kitchen.
What I love most about baking is the joy it brings people - the comfort of familiar flavors and the memories they bring to mind. In Midcoast Maine, those flavors shift with the seasons: maple in the spring, wild Maine blueberries at the height of summer, and apples and pumpkins as the year turns to fall, all starting with simple, thoughtful ingredients. With Small Craft Kitchen, I'm sharing the recipes I love and the joy I find in baking. I hope you enjoy these cookies and gifts as much as I enjoy making them.
In addition to my love of baking, I also love the outdoors. We live on an estuary and enjoy watching the tides come and go and exploring the river in our kayaks.
In Maine, summer is everything—especially when the garden is in full swing, with potatoes, lettuce, corn, tomatoes, squash, and more.
When we’re not in the kitchen you’ll usually find us on the water- in our boat during summer and snowshoeing on the ice in winter. We look forward to sharing a glimpse of Maine life with you through our baked goods and gifts.
